It is now a longstanding tradition that Rossi will always bring a custom one-off helmet design to the Italian GPs on the MotoGP calander and over the years he has raced in many memorable designs.
For the 2016 Misano MotoGP Valentino Rossi produced a special helmet that the fans loved that was based on Rossi’s favorite film – “The Blues Brothers”.
The design featured Valentino and his best friend Uccio dressed up at the main characters from the film, with the slogan ‘Sweet Home Misano’ printed on the lid. The helmet also featured various other iconic imagery from the film, like the police car known as ‘The Bluesmobile’.
The design was created by Aldo Drudi and you can see a hyperlapse video below of how his studio created this iconic helmet step by step below
By the way, AGV have just made this helmet available to buy as a limited edition in their amazing, but very expensive, top-line Pista GP R helmet. See it here.
AGV are now releasing Valentino Rossi’s 2016 Misano helmet in their top-of-range Pista GP R helmet series. The design is known as ‘Sweet Home Misano’ or sometimes ‘The Blues Brothers’ and will almost certainly sell out quickly given how popular it proved to be on the race weekend.
As you know by now, tradition dictates that Rossi will always show up to the Mugello and Misano MotoGP rounds with a special helmet design and in 2016 he showed up to Misano with this design that was tribute to Misano, to his favorite film, and to his longtime friend Alessio Salucci, aka ‘Uccio’.
The helmet was designed by Aldo Drudi and it feature Rossi and Uccio on the top of the helmet dressed up as the the two characters from the iconic film ‘The Blues Brothers’ (‘The Blues Brothers’ is Vale’s favorite movie).
Positioned above Vale and Uccio are the words ‘Sweet Home Misano’ in large lettering. As well as being a tribute to their home, this was a play on words that saw them adapting the song ‘Sweet Home Chicago’ from the movie to honor their home. The sides of the helmet features the iconic ‘Bluesmobile’ police car from the film while the rear of the helmet features a cartoon of Rossi’s pet Bulldogs and cat all dressed up in shades and fedora hats to complete the look.
This helmet design was wildly popular with the fans and AGV are only releasing this in Limited Edition numbers, so you may want to secure one via pre-order if you really want to be sure you can get hold of one.

Valentino Rossi’s special helmet design for the 2016 Misano MotoGP has been revealed today and it features a tribute to one of Valentino Rossi’s favorite films – The Blues Brothers.
Rossi and Uccio both feature on the front of the helmet dressed as the iconic Blues Brothers, and the words ‘Sweet Home Misano’ is written in large letters above them – this is a play on words with the Blues Brothers song ‘Sweet Home Chicago’ from the film. The side of the helmet also features the police car from the film.
On the rear Valentino Rossi’s cartoon dogs and cat are also dressed as Blues Brothers.
Check out the photos here of Valentino Rossi’s 2016 Misano helmet:
Valentino Rossi has a long-running relationship with Mugello, the Italian track located in the Tuscan hills which for a long time was Valentino’s home race. The Italian fans would come to Mugello in their thousands to see Valentino race.
Whilst Mugello still remains a crucial track for Valentino Rossi, there is another track which appeared on the MotoGP calander in 2007 that has a special place in Rossi’s heart – the ‘Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli‘.
This track is located in Misano Adriatico (in the Province of Rimini) and it is just a few miles from Valentino’s home town of Tavullia, and if there ever was a home race for Valentino then this is it. Members of Rossi’s fanclub walk from Tavullia to the circuit in a a big yellow procession on raceday, and the local priests in Tavullia even ring the bells when Valentino wins.
The circuit also has extra-special significance since it was renamed in 2012 from ‘Misano World Circuit‘ to ‘Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli‘ in tribute to local racer, and close friend of Valentino Rossi, Marco Simoncelli.
Rossi has used the Misano MotoGP to reveal some of his most famous helmet designs, and some of his most personal ones. You can see all the special helmets that Valentino Rossi has used for the Misano MotoGP since 2007 below.
The circuit itself was built in 1969 and has gone through a number of changes since it was opened, and during its history races have been held in anti-clockwise and clockwise directions around the circuit (MotoGP races are currently held in a clockwise direction). In the 1990s the track length was extended to 2.53 miles.
Valentino Rossi’s Misano helmets:
You know a track is important to Valentino Rossi when he has a special helmet made for the occasion each year. In 2007 Valentino suffered an engine failure meaning he couldn’t play any meaningful role in the race, but in 2008 he returned with a a custom helmet to celebrate the circuit and has had a special Misano design created for the race every year since.
His first helmet design was known as ‘My House’ and it showed a cartoon house on the helmet that was supposed to represent Vale’s home. It was full of small details like the number 46 above the front door, and Sun and Moon windchimes hanging above the window at the back of the helmet. As always, Valentino creates all his special Misano helmet designs with Aldo Drudi.
Since 2008 Valentino has often used the Misano MotoGP as the backdrop for some of his most memorable helmets – in 2009 after crasing out at the Indianapolis MotoGP in the previous round Rossi returned to Misano with a giant donkey on his helmet to poke fun at his mistake. Rossi also used Misano to pay tribute to his fallen friend Marco Simoncelli in 2013 with the beautiful ‘Wish You Were Here‘ helmet which used artwork from Pink Floyd’s album of the same name.
Other crowd-pleasing helmets from Misano have included the WTF! helmet, which showed Rossi’s mindset during his difficult time at Ducato when he was struggling to be competitive on the Desmosedici, or the ‘Watch out for Sharks‘ helmet from 2015.
Ahh, finally….AGV have announced the release of the Shark helmet design that Valentino Rossi wore for the Misano MotoGP in 2015.
This helmet design was created to show the pressure that Valentino Rossi was under when he got to Misano – Rossi had been leading all through the season and was top of the MotoGP standings, but his points lead was being eroded rapidly by Jorge Lorenzo and a resurgent Marc Marquez.
The design depicted Rossi as a plucky fish trying to outswim a big shark who has its eyes firmly fixed on the fish. Rossi said the shark signified the other racers who would be looking to beat him as Misano is his home race, but in reality, most people thought the shark represented Jorge Lorenzo.
Valentino Rossi said: “Because this is my home race, everybody wants to beat me, so the big shark on my helmet represents Jorge, Marc, the Ducatis. All these guys want to eat me because I’m the small fish, but I will try to escape, that’s the target!”
AGV are making this helmet available as a limited edition in their premium Corsa range. The Corsa is basically one level down from AGV’s race helmet (The Pista GP) and it takes many of the features that you get in the Pista, but adds more flexibility making it better suited to street use. Make no mistake, this is a helmet equally at home on the track as well as the road.
This is going to be a hugely popular Valentino Rossi replica and we’d expect it to sell out quite quickly. We have put links at the bottom of the page showing you where you can order it.
The ‘Corsa’ is an all new race helmet from AGV. Its features a SSL (Super Super Light) composite fibre, Kevlar & Carbon Fibre shell construction; with no less than four shell sizes used during construction to ensure the helmet is as compact, light and accurate a fit as possible when worn, this technique also helps in reducing neck/muscle fatigue and helps to keep the helmet more stable at high speeds.
On the onside the helmets integrated ventilation system (IVS) features wide channels that have been hollowed directly into the shell to help keep you cool. Helping to keep it fresh on the inside, the fully removable/washable lining is constructed from a breathable Lycra micro porous material with sanitizing treatment. The helmet also features AGV’s Extra quick release visor system (EQRS) in metal with roto-translation opening. This system allows the changing of the visor to be undertaken in a matter of seconds without the use of tools. The ‘Corsa’ is supplied with a flat, non-scratch, race visor with wide field of vision. It’s design is Pinlock ready and suitable for use with tear-off strips (PINLOCK comes as standard).

This is the Valentino Rossi ‘Wish’ or ‘Wish You Were Here’ helmet design that he wore for the Misano MotoGP in 2013.
The meaning behind the design is simple – Valentino Rossi was expressing his feelings for his friend Marco Simoncelli who died at Sepang in 2011. The Misano race track was subsequently named after Marco Simoncelli, who was a local rider from just up the road in Cattolica, so it was a natural track to pay tribute to Simoncelli at.
The design is very unusual in that it takes artwork from the Pink Floyd album ‘Wish You Were Here’ as the inspiration. The top of the helmet features the robot arms from the album, and the rear of the helmet features the now famous photo of two men shaking hands, one of whom is on fire.
The sides of the helmet feature Valentino’s race number and the back has a small Sun and Moon icon.
This is a really eye-catching helmet design, and it is now being made available by AGV in Limited Edition numbers in their Corsa helmet range.
This beautiful Valentino Rossi helmet replica will go quickly, so if you are interested in picking one up we have provided links to trusted and official online stores that are selling it and can ship it worldwide. Check them out at the bottom of the page, or read AGV’s official description of the helmet below:
Product description of the AGV Corsa ‘Wish’ helmet:
The Corsa model combines the performance of the Pista GP with the characteristics needed for use on the road.
The Corsa has a carbon-fibre/glass-fibre/aramid fibre ssl (super super Light) shell which was designed using fem techniques and Features EPS internal ducts to create a small, light helmet Which is both comfortable and extremely safe. The result is a helmet that is significantly superior to the limits set by ECE Standards and that weighs just 1350g* (+/- 50 g) in MS size (the weight refers to the ECE 2205 version) Unlike the Pista GP, the Corsa comes with a system for opening And closing the air vents which makes it a less extreme, more versatile helmet. The entire ventilation system was designed Using computational fluid dynamics studies and wind tunnel tests.
This helmet is highly efficient at removing heat and moisture from the rider’s head. Thanks to its large rear spoiler, the Corsa boasts unparalleled performance as in terms of aerodynamic penetration and high speed stability. Overall, the visor area is 9% bigger meaning a 15° improvement in vision which obviously enhances the active safety factor.
The fit of the Corsa was developed using the new “human Engineering” process with which design starts from the surfaces in contact with the wearer’s head. The padding inside the helmet starts with a concave 3D structure that is pre-shaped to match the contours of the rider’s head and any surfaces in contact with the head are stitch-free.
The Lycra® and Shalimar® sanitised internal components are fully adjustable due to the fact that the position and depth of the crown pad can be modified as can the thickness of the cheek pads. The combination of these solutions, which are covered by Three separate patents, make the Corsa fit different shapes of skull as never before.
Extreme standards helmets is the name of the Revolutionary new range of AGV helmets which Includes the Corsa. It is based on the “human engineering” concept and applies to a new design process which starts from the components that are in direct contact with the head and gradually progresses to the outer shell. As a result, the structural shapes imitate the area of contact thus providing greater safety and smaller dimensions

This is another classic Valentino Rossi Misano helmet design – this time AGV have used the 2011 Misano MotoGP as inspiration for the latest Valentino Rossi race replica in their bestselling K3 SV range.
This helmet design is sometimes referred to as the ‘WTF!’ or ‘Expletive’ design, and one glance at the helmet will tell you why.
The helmet was designed by Aldo Drudi and Rossi stated that the helmet gave an insight to his mindset while he was racing. It was also speculated that the helmet was an insight into Valentino’s frustrations that he was having during his unsuccessful time at Ducati since his highly publicized move to the factory. The helmet is bright yellow and features a thought bubble emerging out from behind the visor – the bubble is filled with comic symbols and icons depicting swear words.
This is an eye-catching helmet and goes down as one of the funniest Valentino Rossi helmet designs of recent years. The helmet was originally made available in very limited numbers in the GP-tech range which sold out very quickly, so it is great to see it being made available in the much more affordable K3 range.
Official description of the AGV K3 SV Valentino Rossi WTF Misano helmet:

An aerodynamic shell shape is optimized for stability and aggressive aesthetics and features an integrated, compact rear spoiler to reduce turbulence. The narrow chin bar is streamlined to help the helmet cut through the wind at high speeds, further increasing stability.
The AGV K3 SV helmet incorporates a drop-down sun visor, making the helmet a tour de force, aggressive street or touring helmet. The K3 is also communication-ready and features speaker pocket cut outs to minimize discomfort caused by Bluetooth speakers pressing into your ears. The AGV K-3 SV Helmet is an excellent choice for any rider who values sophisticated, modern design in a safe and feature-rich package.

This is another classic Valentino Rossi old-school helmet design that has also been made available in the affordable AGV K3 range.
This is known as The Donkey helmet, and Valentino raced in it for the 2009 Misano round of the MotoGP season.
Like all of Rossi’s one-off helmet designs there is a story behind the graphics. The Aldo Drudi designed lid was created to poke fun at Valentino for crashing out of the Indianapolis MotoGP and dropping 25 points in the previous race.
The helmet featured a giant Donkey on the top of the helmet, with Valentino Rossi’s actual eyes scanned in. The back of the helmet has the words ‘The Donkey’ in the coloured style of ‘The Doctor’ logo. The words “EL SUMÈR” are also written on the rear which means ‘The Donkey’ or ‘Ass’ in Rossi’s home town. The rear also features a cartoon of Valentino’s two bulldogs wearing Donkey ears.
This is a great Valentino Rossi replica, it may not appeal to everyone as an everyday road helmet due to the fact that it has a huge donkey on it, but those Rossi fans with a keen sense of humor will love this iconic race replica in the affordable AGV K3 range – you should be able to pick this up for less than £/$ 200, making it a really cost effective way to get a genuine Valentino Rossi replica helmet. This helmet had previously been released as a strictly limited edition in the GP-tech range, which meant it came with a huge price tag, so it is nice to see these historic Rossi race replicas now available to the more money-conscious riders in an affordable range that doesn’t compromise on quality.
Official description of the Valentino Rossi Donkey helmet:
The K3 is AGV’s entry-level full face helmet and is designed to offer a rider on a budget the experience of owning a premium product. The K3 has a very high specification and is packed with features. The K3 uses AGV’s well proven HIR-TH (high resistant thermoplastic) resin shell construction, this shell is very strong and has excellent shock absorbing properties, however the manufacturing process is much quicker and simpler than an equivalent fibreglass shell.
This ultimately is reflected in the price of the helmet enabling riders on a budget to have an exceptionally safe and well made product at the fraction of the price you would expect to pay for a premium branded helmet.
Using AGV’s CAD design process the inner E.P.S. shell is made of different densities, to match the properties of the outer shell, giving the K3 excellent safety characteristics. Also the shape of the shell reflects the aerodynamic design of the range topping GP-Tech whilst being focused on the needs of the rider on the road; reduced wind noise and excellent stability at speed.
The K3 is equipped with twin front ram air intake vents, and an aerodynamic rear spoiler/extractor. There are also vents on the side to aid extraction of warm air from around the face area, and a large chin vent to aid visor de-misting.
The K3 is equipped with AGV’s street8 visor. The visor features the XQRS (extra quick release system) enabling visor changes in seconds without the need for tools. The street8 visor also features the NFS (no fog shield) anti fog coating, an anti scratch coating and offers 100% protection from UV light.
The K3 has a fully removable washable lining (both cheekpads and head lining). The liners are made from Dri-Lex, this liner has excellent wicking properties keeping the rider comfortable and dry, even in the extreme conditions. The linings are also treated with a hygienic antibacterial coating for prolonged freshness. The K3 is also fitted with a Micro-Metric buckle for ease of use with a range of adjustment. The K3 is also available in the K3 basic version, this model still features all the K3’s safety features without some of the luxury features to keep the cost incredibly low.

As is customary, Valentino Rossi had a new helmet design for the 2014 MotoGP at Misano, and now AGV have released a race replica of it in the Corsa range as a Limited Edition.
This helmet design is called ‘Give Us A Hand’, but it is also known as the ‘hand-print’ design, and ‘Misano ci dà una mano’.
The helmet was designed by Aldo Drudi and featured a light blue base that was covered with hand-prints in various colours. The hand-prints were made by various people that play a key role in Valentino’s life and includes hand-prints from his friends, family, mechanics, and it even features a single finger-print from the designer Aldo Drudi himself. The helmet even features oaw prints from Rossi’s bulldogs and cat. On either side of the chin are kisses that were made by Valentino’s girlfriend and his mother.
Around the chin of the helmet is printed the phrase “Misano ci dà una mano”, and roughly translated it means ‘Misano give us a hand’ or more simply ‘Misano helps you’. It is a phrase from a well-known Italian advert.
This is a really bright and eye-catching helmet in colours that you don’t usually see on Valentino Rossi helmets making it somewhat unique.
The AGV Corsa is a fantastic helmet that takes many of the features from AGVs premium race engineered helmets like the Pista GP, but makes everything more forgiving and flexible so they can be more easily customised for everyday road use. This is a helmet that is equally at home on the racetrack as the streets.
Official description of the AGV Corsa ‘Give Us A Hand’ helmet:
The Corsa has the performance of the Pista GP and the characteristics of a helmet for road use.
The carbon-fibre/glass-fibre/aramid SSL (Super Super Light) shell was designed using FEM techniques (Finite Elements Analysis) and features EPS internal ducts in the shell to provide a small, light helmet which is both comfortable and extremely safe. The result is a helmet that is significantly superior than the limits set by ECE standards and that weighs just 1350 g (refers to MS size ECE 2205 version).

Thanks to its large rear spoiler, the Corsa boasts first class performance in terms of aerodynamic penetration and high speed stability. Overall, the visor aperture is 9% bigger meaning a 15° improvement in vision which obviously enhances the active safety factor.
The fit of the Corsa was developed using “Human Engineering” whereby the design starts from the surfaces in contact with the wearer’s head. The Lycra® and Shalimar® sanitized internal components are fully adjustable due to the fact that the position and depth of the crown pad can be modified as can the thickness of the cheek pads.

This is the AGV K3 Valentino Rossi ‘Clock’ helmet, which is also known as the ‘Wake Up’ helmet design. This helmet was worn for the 2010 Misano MotoGP race.
This design was originally available as a Limited Edition helmet in the GP-Tech range, but AGv have thankfully now released it in the open edition K3 range. The K3 is AGV’s upper level entry helmet range, which means it is affordable (usually less than £/$ 200), but also comes loaded with features that you find on more premium AGV helmet ranges. In short, it is an ideal helmet for everyday street use with the added bonus of race replica graphics without the excessive price tag.
This helmet design may not be to everyone’s taste, but it remains an iconic Valentino Rossi helmet design and will be very eye-catching on the road. The helmet was designed by Aldo Drudi and featured a giant alarm clock on the top of the helmet with the alarm bell ringing. This design was used as a double meaning – firstly to poke fun at Rossi’s notoriously bad timekeeping, and secondly as a wake up call for The Doctor who had missed 4 races with a broken leg and came to Misano after a poor result at the US MotoGP.
“The helmet is a joke about my timekeeping. We have put a big clock on the top of it with a different helmet showing the right time for each session so I make sure that I arrive on time!”
The backside of the helmet feature a yellow 46, and a cartoon of Rossi’s 2 bulldogs. The AGV logo is featured on the side, and the Sun and Moon motifs are positioned either side of the chin.

The K3 range was released as AGV’s entry level helmet which has been designed for street and sports riding. It is a helmet that looks like a race helmet, and can be used on track days, or simply for day to day riding.
The K3 range takes a lot of features from the premium GP-Tech and AGV Pista ranges, and the thermoplastic resin shell, and the neutral oval head shape comes from the research and development work that went into created the GP-Tech and Pista. The aerodynamic shape is also influenced by AGV’s race research and testing – so this is helmet that is very at home on the track and feels very comfortable at high-speeds, cutting through the air. Ventilation on the K3 is via the chin, with 4 exit points at the rear to keep the air flowing through while you ride.
The visor is anti-scratch and anti-fog enabled, and the internal cheek pads are Dry-Lex antibacterial antimicrobial that are easy to remove, but feel solid and secure when in place.
The AGV K3 is a very solid entry level helmet that really gives you value for money and does a great job in handing down some nice features that have originated from AGV’s premium level and high-end race helmets.
