1999 World Champion Helmet (‘I Am World Champion’)

Valentino Rossi won the 250cc World Championship title in 1999 and became the youngest ever 250 World Champion riding for Aprilia.

To celebrate his achievements a new Aldo Drudi designed helmet was produced. It was partially based on previous helmet designs, but differed in that the Sun and Moon motifs were pushed down the sides of the helmet to make space for a ring of flowers that circled a giant ‘number 46′ on the top of the helmet. The 46 also had a map of the world embedded into it, signifying all the places that Rossi had raced and the global nature of the championship. Cartoon style text ran along the base of the helmet stating that Rossi was World Champion.
