Valentino Rossi: The Jolly Joker Helmet – Mugello 2010

Valentino Rossi unveiled his latest helmet design at Mugello on Saturday, called the Jolly Joker.

The superstitious amongst us will be hoping never to see this helmet again, as Rossi suffered a horrific crash in the morning warm-up and broke his right shinbone. He was airlifted to hospital and operated on successfully, but the injury will likely keep him out of action for the next 6 races, and surely ruins any hopes of Rossi being able to retain his World Championship title for this year.

The helmet is another Drudi design and features Rossi’s face as the Joker in the center of a playing card. Rossi is also seen to be wearing a jesters hat with the Yamaha logo positioned at front and center. The sun and moon feature on the sides of the design and Rossi’s bulldogs once again can be seen at the back.

This is a replica of the design that Rossi wore for the Mugello GP in 2009. Wow – this is pretty awesome. This is a video showing the creation of a Valentino Rossi inspired custom helmet paint-job. What makes it special is not just the impressive artwork, but the fact that the creator has chosen to finish off the design with Swarovski-crystals. Rossi was presented with the helmet when it was complete.

Rossi’s ‘Donkey’ helmet at Misano, following his crash at Indianapolis, is now known as one of his more famous helmet designs – but this video shows exactly how it was made. Apparantly Aldo Drudi received a text message from Rossi following the Indianapolis MotoGP asking him to come up with a new helmet design based on the donkey from Shrek – in order for Rossi to poke fun at himself for his error at the Indy GP.

AGV Announce Rossi Donkey Helmet

Press Release:

AGV has officially announced that they are to make a limited number of the Donkey helmet that Rossi wore during the Misano GP. Valentino called himself The Donkey after crashing out during the Indianapolis MotoGP and so inspired him to create this new custom lid.

The helmet has a huge donkey face on top and “THE DONKEY” written on the back in “Doctor” script, also the word “EL SUMÈR” that means donkey in Tavullian dialect (Rossi’s hometown) and as always was designed by Aldo Drudi.

Available from January for £499.99 it will come with a limited edition box.
