Valentino Rossi 2009 Mugello Helmet

Valentino Rossi 2009 Mugello Helmet

As is tradition, Valentino Rossi unveiled a brand new helmet design for the 2009 Mugello round of MotoGP. Past races have seen Valentino wear some outlandish helmet designs , culminating in the ‘My Face’ design from 2008 – so by comparison, this year’s Mugello helmet design seemed tame.

The Aldo Drudi designed helmet depicted Rossi’s gloved hands on either side of his helmet, giving the impression that Rossi was holding his head in his hands. The rear of the helmet had a graphic showing his two Bulldog’s, called Cesare and Cecilia, who also had their paws covering their heads. The design was finished off with a yellow number ‘46′ at the top and rear of the helmet, and the colours of the Italian flag at the base.

Ironically, Rossi literally did have his head in his hands at the end of the race as Casey Stoner took victory, and ended Valentino Rossi’s hopes of an eighth consecutive win at the Mugello circuit.
